Do you feel like you’re just imitating? Like you’re dancing from the outside-in, instead of the other way around? In this two-part workshop, dancers will gain knowledge in anatomy, musicality, and choreography in order to dance from the inside-out and tell their stories in flamenco. Workshops are on Zoom. If you cannot attend live, a recording can be provided with access for up to 10 days. 10% off if you register by June 1st. No discounts available for single-day registration.
You can also add an individual consultation for just $40/hour if you’ve registered for a full workshop. These can be scheduled in the Saturday afternoon slots or Sunday mornings.

Anatomy:
This workshop will introduce students to the fundamental biomechanics of flamenco movement through a hands-on study of anatomy. If you feel like anatomy pictures and books never make sense, don’t worry! Although we’ll look at some diagrams, we will focus on YOUR anatomy. We’ll use exercises to help you find, stretch, strengthen, and coordinate your body specifically for flamenco. This is a great workshop for injury prevention, both for flamenco teachers and students. Understand your body so that you can dance more clearly and expressively!
Blumenfeld holds certificates in 250 hr yoga and Simonson Technique (anatomically based contemporary dance method). Her extensive knowledge of anatomy and flamenco make her a one-of-a-kind teacher in flamenco. After a serious injury early in her career, she began to rethink her approach, finding tools to be more anatomically aware in flamenco. Blumenfeld is excited to share her knowledge so that dancers will be able to move in a way that works with their bodies and move more organically.
“Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.” - Oscar Wilde
Create your own steps:
In this workshop, students will gain tools to develop their own choreography that combines both personal meaning and expression with musical awareness and sense.
Blumenfeld draws from methods of improvisation in modern dance and an in-depth knowledge of flamenco singing and improvisation structures to lead students through a series of activities that lead to the development of personal marcajes & remates.
Blumenfeld has used this same method to help professional dancers further develop their artistry. She has worked with the company members of Ensemble Español, Jácome Flamenco, and La Chispa (Casa Flamenca), among others.
We’ll focus on two palos: soleá and tientos. If you’re ready to break out of your shell and explore new ways to tell your story in flamenco, this workshop offers tools to do just that.
